AI Apocalypse Unleashed at CES 2025: A Harrowing Look at the Future
Published on: January 9, 2025
CES 2025 arrived with a flurry of excitement, technologies buzzing all around. Yet, one couldn't shake the feeling that much of what they saw was, frankly, IRL AI slop.
Once the initial thrill wore off, attendees were likely left scratching their heads. From smart refrigerators that offered recipes but rarely managed to maintain correct temperatures, to VR headsets that seemed more disorienting than immersive.
There was a constant reminder that not everything tech-related is ready for consumers. Some booths displayed robots that can chat but can't pour a cup of coffee. It's as if weโre stuck between potential & reality.
The promise of AI has captivated many. Yet, this year showed the glaring gaps in execution. Companies showcased systems that could read your mood based on your expressionsโyet almost every feedback session resulted in confusion.
Presentations were filled with lofty claims of intelligent solutions. The reality? Many were examples of overhyped gadgets. It felt like the tech industry was trying to sell us something we didn't need, or worse, didn't even understand.
AI can inspire awe, but CES 2025 reminded us of its shortcomings. The hopes for seamless integration fell flat, facing the harsh light of actual usage.
