Meta Unveils AI Business Agent to Automate Operations on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram

Published on: June 4, 2026

Meta Platforms has introduced an artificial intelligence agent tailored for businesses, enabling automation of routine operations within messaging services. Unveiled during the company’s Conversations conference in London on June 3, 2026, this agent marks Meta’s strategic move into the growing enterprise AI market, extending its capabilities beyond consumer social experiences.

The new agentic technology empowers businesses to perform tasks autonomously, such as scheduling calendar events or completing sales on behalf of the organization, without requiring constant human oversight. This feature builds upon Meta’s existing business messaging tools and integrates across WhatsApp, Messenger, and now Instagram—making it available globally to enterprises of various sizes.

Meta emphasized the strong foundation for this rollout, noting that over one million businesses were already using earlier versions of chatbots on WhatsApp and Messenger. By expanding these agents’ functionality and reach, the company aims to streamline day-to-day business workflows while maintaining familiarity through widely used messaging apps.

In conjunction with the agent launch, Meta has restructured internally to support its AI ambitions. The company announced a new Enterprise Solutions team, which includes squads of forward-deployed engineers who will work directly with business clients. This team model, similar to strategies used by AI-focused firms like Anthropic, helps customize AI tools to align with corporate environments and procedures.

With this offering, Meta joins other major technology companies expanding into enterprise AI—positioning itself alongside firms like Microsoft, which is releasing its own suite of AI services and on-premises tools. Meta’s approach emphasizes integration into existing communication infrastructures, aiming to reduce friction for businesses adopting AI agents.

By enabling agentic business assistants on its platforms, Meta could significantly enhance operational efficiency and customer interaction for a wide range of enterprises. As this technology rolls out globally, its real-world impact will become more visible in how businesses leverage conversational AI to manage daily tasks and customer relationships.
